Qualify Your Home

Determine your Energy Intensity – i.e. the total amount of energy you used in your home in the last year, converted to its kWhs equivalent, and divided by your square footage of living (heated) space and the number of people living in the house. Sounds difficult, but the below calculator makes it easy! (Thanks Nick & Michael!)

Lets get started.
Step #1 – Access you Puget Sound Energy bill information by following the instructions in the box to the right.

Step #2 – Enter your energy information into the Calculator.

If your Energy Intensity result is less than or equal to 4  kWhs/SqFt/Yr per  person you qualify!

Step #3 – “Green” the rest of your power by signing up for PSE’s Green Power program  HERE.

Unless one has a very significant solar array, most of us will “green” our power by paying a little extra each month for energy from renewable sources through PSE’s Green Power program.  Green Power Program funds are directed to Pacific Northwest renewable energy facilities that supply additional electricity into the grid.  Learn more and sign-up HERE.

Call the Backbone Campaign at 206-408-8058 and one of our Coal Free Zone “Shepherds” will help you through the process.

Access your Puget Sound Energy bill information online. Follow these steps after opening a new window for www.pse.com

  1. In the top left corner sign in or sign up at “My PSE Account”
  2. Create an account if you do not have one (input your name exactly as it appears on the bill and your customer account number)
  3. Click on the Energy Center tab, Choose Bill History tab, Choose Account Summary tab, export this view.
  4. Save the file to your computer.
  5. Highlight gas usage for 12 months. Note the sum at the bottom right of the page. Do the same for electrical usage.
  6. Enter these sums in the calculator.

Other Vashon energy suppliers may have a record of how much energy you purchased from them in the last year:
